A Heart Like Mary's: Her Strength as a Woman

(In honor of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary)

There is no prayer more powerful than a mother’s intercession. There is no love stronger than a mother’s sacrificial love. There is no protection greater than a mother’s willing-to-die-for safeguard for her children. There is no heart more convicted than a mother’s pure devotion to her loved ones.

We are blessed to have such a Mother – Our Blessed Mother. Her maternal love for us is her strength as a woman. Through her, we can always find hope in the midst of despair… courage in the midst of fear… renewal in the midst of sin… strength in the midst of temptations… joy in the midst of sorrow and love in the midst of pain.

Let her love be our strength and her comfort be our guide. With Mary our Mother, there is no trial in this world that we cannot overcome…

Love is something we experience right from the very moment of our conception. Inside a mother's womb, the first sound a child listens to is the sweet sound of love beating from a mother's heart. The first sight a child first learn to appreciate is the tender gaze of a mother's loving eyes. The first touch a child can feel is the warmth of a mother's embrace.
